Get Sketchy Week #49

I had fun with this sketch from "Get Sketchy" week 49.  I used fabric for my stripes.  I had a few hearts that I have been making for my etsy shop laying around, so I used them on this card for my granddaughter Tallie.  We are celebrating her birthday tonight.  I have been out of the card making mode for some time now, so it felt really good to find this sketch and get some of my card mojo back!!!

supplies that I used..............
scrap craft paper and cardstock
scrap fabric
thread
ribbon
felt
Happy Birthday sticker

Stacked Flowers made from Tote scraps!

I've been saving the 3 x 3 inch squares that I have been cutting while making my tote bags.  I really don't know why I was saving them, but you know us crafty people hate tossing anything away......BECAUSE WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO USE IT!!!........Anyway I had a stack of them and decided this afternoon that I would make stacked flowers.  I cut circles from each square, they are not perfectly round, but they are not supposed to be, stacked them up, added a button and presto I had some really cute flowers to be used on scrap pages or cards.  The more totes I make, the more stacked flowers I will have.  Maybe I should give a few away?  What do you think?  Would you like a few stacked flowers?  Let me know!!!

Pam Callaghan turned my layout into a sketch!!

Ideas for Scrapbookers Pam Callaghan put out a request for layouts that she could possibly turn into sketches.  I decided to send her Mia's Birthday layout.  I had fun designing this one and it always puts a smile on my face when I see it.  I didn't really think my layout would be considered, but low and behold Pam turned it into a sketch.  I feel really honored.  It was so much fun to come to my blog today and find that Pam had posted my layout and the sketch of  it on her blog.  If you haven't made a visit to Pam's blog, you should soon.  She always has lots of scrapbook info and tips.  I make a regular stop there every couple of days.  Thanks Pam for choosing  Mia's Birthday layout.

Plum Floral Tote added to my Etsy shop

I just finished up this tote bag this evening.  I started sewing early this morning and then took a little break to play with my granddaughter Mia for a couple of hours, and then I got back to sewing after she went home with her daddy.  I so love the color of this one......just yummy!!

As I was adding this bag to my shop I decided that it would be fun to name my totes.  This one is named after my grandma Sara.  She was a great woman.

Plum Floral Tote Bag -- Sara Jane

Description

My "Sara Jane" tote is made with 100% cotton fabric. The outside and inside fabric is lined with fusible fleece as well as the handles. This gives the bag stability and a nice softness. The outer bag fabric has been quilted with criss-cross lines. This adds texture and stability to the fabric. I love the look of quilted fabric and I hope you do as well.
I have added pockets to the inside for holding: keys, cell phones, sunglasses, etc.

This tote measures approximately......

15 1/2 inches across the top
13 inches from top to bottom
10 inches along the bottom
22 inch handles
and it has 6 inside pockets

Flowered Tote

I'm so lovin' my stay-cation!!!  I've been able to sew my little heart out.  If I could just retire..........oh well, thats not happening anytime soon.  So I better enjoy each and every second of this time off work.  Today I choose a fabulous flowered fabric to work with.  I love flowers and I love color, so this was a perfect choice of fabric for todays tote.  I think I have the energy to start on another one.  I've got some fun black and white flowered fabric thats calling my name!  Thanks for stopping by.

I hope to have my etsy shop open soon.  I've had so many requests for my bags.  I have given so many away that I am trying to get a little inventory before I open up.

Totes, Totes and more Totes!!!!

Hoot-Hoot......who doesn't love owls?  I found this fabric and it just put a huge smile on my face.  I just ordered a few more yards of it, so I will be making a couple more owl totes soon!  I'm also crazy about polka-dots as you can see!  I will be keeping this bag for myself as there is a slight boo-boo in the lining.  My machine got caught up on a bulky seam while I was top stitching and it made a slight wear mark in the lining.  So darn it......I'll have to carry this one around!!  I will be adding these totes to my shop very soon.   Now off to do a little housework and get back to sewing.  Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping in!

CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS FOR THE GRIFFINS

My cousin ordered these stockings months ago and they have been finished and just sitting in my craft studio waiting to be mailed.  I finally got them mailed out on Monday and they have been received, so I can finally post them here on my blog.  Rhonda called me as soon as she received them and said she loved 'em!!  I tried to add a little something different to each one of them.  I have had so many people say......I would love to buy a stocking or two from you, well........  I am trying to get some made and they will be in my etsy shop soon.  I am making my fabric totes right now and hopefully by the end of the week I will have my little shop opened up.

A tote for Krista

I came home early this morning from my daughter Lisa's house.  We had a fabulous 4th of July.  Lots of family and friends and way too much food!!  My grandson Michael was in charge of lighting the fireworks again this year and he sure made us proud.  Thanks Michael for being such a little man last night.

Okay......back to my tote!!  My niece Krista wanted a tote with stars..... after digging around my fabric stash I was able to find fabric with stars!!  This isn't the best photo, but in person this tote is loaded with little stars.  I hope you like it my dear Krista.

This tote measures approx. 17 in. x 17 in., fully lined w/ 5 inside pockets of different sizes.

Dominick's Bag

I just finished up this bag for my grandson Dominick or should I say Dominick's mother, my daughter Lisa!  She wanted a "boy" bag to carry around his stuff when they are out and about.  I used a Robert Hoffman fabric that I have had for sometime.  Heck, I've had all my fabric for sometime.  I originally used it as a quilt backing.  The inside is fully lined and has 5 pockets to put all kinds of goodies.  Now......my niece Krista wants a bag.  She wanted it made with star fabric, but I don't enough star fabric in my stash, so I'm going to talk her into polka-dots.  I've got lots of cute polka-dot fabric and who doesn't like polka-dots?
